Skale Tracker is a free opensource solution for creating tracking music.  It has long since been discontinued but remains popular today because of its relation to Impulse Tracker and Fast Tracker.

Converting your Song to WAV or MP3

In most cases, you must first export your song to WAV format.  This can be done within most tracking software packages such as Skale Tracker.

If you cannot export your song to .WAV with the tracking software, it can be circumvented by loading a recording program and recording audio from your systems Stereo Out.  Programs capable of doing this include:  Sound Recorder, Cool Edit, Gold Wave, etc.

1.  Double click on your volume control, select properties > advanced.

2.  Select Stereo Out as your recording device.

3.  Load up your software, press record. Then hit play in the tracking software.

Once your song is in WAV format, you can then convert the file to MP3.  Several methods exist, but one option is to use your audio program (iTunes/Winamp/etc) to convert the song to MP3 for you.
