Lets discuss Kanzius Radio Wave Treatment, quite potentially one of the most direct attempts to tackle cancer in a long time.
So, in brief, what is it? Well, John Kanzius was originally a television and radio engineer until John was diagnosed with B-cell leukemia in 2002. After undergoing chemotherapy John reported trying to find alternative means for treatment. Not so much to save himself, but to try and save the young children he saw going to chemotherapy every single day.
Being a radio engineer, John understood RF ablation. Or (in short) that you can use radio waves to super-heat metalic objects. This makes it so living tissue can pass by the system unharmed. His thought was, how can I use this to target cancer cells while leaving the surrounding tissue undamaged?
The next step for John was to begin using gold nanoparticles and to attach them to cancer cells. His goal was to use the radio waves to superheat the metal and destroy the cancer cells. In 2005 he was able to test his homemade prototype
Unfortunately, John Kanzius passed from cancer in 2009 prior to finalizing and obtaining approval for the use of Kanzius RF Treatment on real people. However he did live long enough to have an idea of the effects of his findings.
In 2007 and on, animal testing trails began. The tests suggest that the cancer cells were obliterated in most cases, resulting in a complete recovery for patients. In addition, it had next to no side-effects as the particles specifically target cancer cells.
In 2012, human testing trials for Kanzius RF Treatment is expected to begin.
